Tsimshian Cultural Heritage Center
The following is a fundraising event in which funds will be raised for the building of the Tsimshian Cultural Heritage Center. Indigenous and Irish Alliance will also be fundraising for the Tsimshian Cultural Heritage Center through our Summer 2007 Raffle.
Reviving Tsimshian Cultural Significance
Going through Tsimshian Protocol to establish historic cultural event for Tsimshian Nations in both Alaska and British Columbia, CA. Native Nations Sustainable Alliance is making efforts and working toward reality to make this cultural event happen. It is to re-awaken our presence within us as Tsimshian people of the northwest coast who are of the Eagle, Killerwhale, Raven, and Wolf clans.
Within ourselves we have memories of our own tribal stories, songs, and dances, we have memories of great people among us, it is to look at who we are and reflecting upon the past of our ancestors, is to revive and properly maintain who we are and preserve it so the endless generations to come can move on with pride and confidence. Our children, grand-children and great grand-children are watching and how will they know of our nobility? How will they know of the greatness of the Tsimshian people. This Tsimshian Historic Cultural Event is to look inward to see how noble our people are, to re-awaken our greatness, to re-awaken our tribal spirit of unity of being one nation.
In this re-awakening the Haida Nation and Nisga'a Nation are joining this event to escort the journey from Metlakatla, Alaska to Metlakatla, British Columbia Canada. In the not to long ago, our ancestors had full command of our region, known along most of the length of the Pacific Coast, clear to the ice edge of the Arctic Circle. It is to re-awaken our ancient wisdom to preserve and maintain who we are as people of the Tsimshian Nation.
Originally this project started out with the building of 14 canoes and the event starting off in Metlakatla British Columbia, CA. But the true significance behind this event is the reconnecting of our Tsimshian people from Metlakatla, Alaska. The journey is now set to start from Metlakatla, Alaska along with the building of 30 canoes. Each canoe that is being built is 44ft in length by 71/2ft wide. Many neighboring nations along with several villages and dance groups are willingly and readily to participate in the historical event that is soon to take place.
As we continue to plan and fund raise we welcome any suggestions, questions donations or words of encouragements as we build for a truly epochal celebration that will transcend borders and unite the Tsimshian Nation.
You can help us write a new chapter in modern Tsimshian history by sponsorships, financial donations or your generous contribution.
