Advocate Rights Director - Timothy Booth

Timothy Booth is the Advocate Rights Director for Indigenous and Irish Alliance and a motivated individual with experience in many fields. Skillful at problem solving with different perspective and cool in pressure situations. Assertive, personable, well-groomed, and hard working individual. Have proven energetic in any employment situation. Communicates well with both genders and with a wide range of ages. Initiates more expedient methods of accomplishing current tasks to minimize work and improve overall performance.

Experience & Accomplishments:

2002 to 2006 Family Caseworker II at Craig TFYS Field Office in Craig, Alaska

Central Council Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska

Primary duties: Represent the Craig Community Association Tribe when the State of Alaska takes custody of Native Children. Assures the State and Office of Children Services stay in compliance with the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) on all cases. Advocated in court for tribe, child(ren), families and individuals. Write reports for child custody ICWA related cases, monthly reports of other services provided for Community of Craig. Provided numerous other services to clients, individuals, and families to assure their rights were protected or heard.

2002Uncertified Teacher/After school program assistant

for Craig City School District at the Middle School, Craig, Alaska

Primary duties: One class was on First Aide and CPR to middle school students. One class was in Southeast Alaska Life Styles class on cultural awareness of their own culture and traditions. The secondary duties: working with the after school program with middle school students. I assured safety of all students, and provided activities and supervision of students and activities.

2002Youth Counselor I at Ketchikan Regional Youth Facility in Ketchikan, AK

Primary duties: maintain safety and security of all juvenile inmates and other staff members. Monitor activities of juveniles within facility, while transported to Court or other appointments. Monitored and dispensed of medication to juveniles when needed or directed. On-Duty Shift Supervisor regularly. Helped provide positive role modeling for juveniles and promoted healthy alternatives. Provided mediation for parent and child if called for during visitations.

2000 to 2002Outreach/Prevention/Substance Abuse Counselor I

for Annette Island Service Unit-Family Services, Metlakatla, Alaska

Primary duties: provide services to entire community on substance abuse. Increase awareness of dangers of impairment when under the influence of substances. Maintain client confidentiality, records and reports. Corroborate with other agencies within community and near by community for wrap around services for clients and families.

2000-1993Police Officer, Corporal (DARE Officer) Metlakatla, Alaska

Metlakatla Police Department, Annette Island Reserve

Primary duties: Police Officer on a Federal Indian Reserve. Upheld and enforced local, State and Federal codes and regulations for the community. Maintained good rapport with all co-workers, and developed advantageous public relations with community members, and other agencies and organizations. Initiated the D.A.R.E Program in the community for both Elementary and Middle School. Promoted a Standardizing of Field Training of officers. State certified Police Instructor in numerous law enforcement subjects, and three EMS Instructorships: BLS, AED & FACTS.

Administrative Director - Sean Maguire

Sean Maguire is the Administrative Director of Indigenous and Irish Alliance. He is also the National Director of an Irish Republican Youth group called Na Claoimhte Solais (Swords of Light) and helps runs the American half of the youth group, while the group's counterpart is in Ireland. He is also one of the teachers within NCS's educational program. Na Claoimhte Solais's purpose is to educate Irish and Irish American youth about Ireland's history, language, and culture, and the continued political struggle against the British occupation of Ireland.

 

He has been involved in Irish political activism since the early 1970s. He has worked on campaigns to highlight the sufferings of the Irish People from Bloody Sunday, Internment, and The Hunger Strikes of 1981. Sean continues the fight for political status for Irish political activists, and repatriation of those activists in their fight to return home to serve their sentences in Irish prisons closer to their families.

 

He has over 30 years of experience in organizing and building support groups and bringing like-minded people together to work toward a common goal.
